Use your Phone as WiFi Adapter/Dongle Sharing Internet to your Desktop PC

Some desktop computers do not have WiFi adapters and using your smart phone as a wifi adapter is an easy temporary solution. You can connect your phone to the desktop pc using a USB cable, then you enable the USB tethering on your phone and that will share the internet to your desktop pc that does not have a WiFi capability. In cases where you do not have WiFi but you have mobile data, you can still share mobile data from your phone to your desktop PC through a USB cable connection. We will discuss these further below.

There are two things that I’m going to show you.

1. How to share your WiFi Internet from your phone to your Desktop PC using a USB cable.
2. How to share your Mobile data internet from your phone to your PC using a USB cable.

A. How to share your WiFi Internet from your phone to your Desktop PC using USB Cable

1. 1. Make sure your phone is connected to the WiFi network because this will be the source of intenet that will be shared to the PC.

1. 2. Connect your phone to the PC using a USB cable.

1. 3. Navigate to the settings page of your phone and look for “connections”.

1. 4. Then go to Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.

1.5. Turn on USB Tethering.

1. 6. Verify connection, on the network conncetion setting on your PC, you will see Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device.

1.7 Go ahead and test your Internet connection! Have fun and enjoy.

B. How to share your Mobile data Internet from your phone to your PC using a USB cable.

1. All the settings on our first setup “How to share your WiFi Internet from your phone to your Desktop PC using USB Cable” will still be the same except that we will use the Mobile Data of our phone as the source of the internet.
2. We need to turn off the WiFi of the phone since this will not be the source of the Internet that will be shared to the PC.
3. Turn on the Mobile Data setting. Once turned on, we can verify the internet connection on the PC. This setup is very useful if you have no other option to share internet to your PC.
